Why SedationLog
Most sedation records are PDFs with fields. SedationLog is software that knows what a defensible record looks like.
A deterministic safety net
SedationLog runs a rules engine over your case as you record it. Missing ASA. Pre-op vitals that drift too far from baseline. An Aldrete score below the discharge threshold. You see the flag while there's still time to fix it, not at audit time.
Vitals from the monitor, automatically
Plug a Mindray ePM 10M into your computer and connect from Chrome -- nothing to install, no bridge software, no drivers. Heart rate, SpO2, BP, etCO2, respiration rate flow into the case, plotted on a live strip chart. No typing during the case.
Bulletproof signed records
Every signed PDF lands in an S3 Object Lock bucket with a 7-year retention policy and an INSERT-only audit chain in Postgres. Once you sign, the record is immutable -- except for a 48-hour unsign-and-amend window that's also fully logged.
Built for dentists, by a dentist
I built SedationLog because I do sedation cases and the existing workflows don't catch the things that actually fail a board defense. Every flag, every form field, every PDF section is here because I needed it on a real case.
How a case flows
From scheduling to signed PDF in four steps. Every one runs through the flagging engine.
- 1
Schedule the case
Create a case for your patient. Pick the operatory, the sedation level, and the procedure description. SedationLog auto-numbers it (2026-001000, 2026-001001, ...).
- 2
Confirm pre-op
Tick the pre-op review checklist, set ASA, confirm NPO status, run the surgical timeout. Every checkbox feeds the flagging engine.
- 3
Run the case
Vitals stream from the monitor straight into Chrome. Record each drug dose; local-anesthetic toxicity runs live against AAPD pediatric + manufacturer adult ceilings. The strip chart shows everything in one view.
- 4
Recover + sign
Complete the Aldrete and A&Ox3. Sign with your saved e-signature. The PDF goes to immutable storage with a 48-hour amend window. Done.
Vitals straight from the monitor
Plug your Mindray ePM 10M into your computer over USB and connect from Chrome. SedationLog reads the device directly through the browser's built-in Web Serial API, decodes the DIAP protocol, and plots readings on the live strip chart. No bridge to install, no drivers, no separate desktop service.
- ✓ Connect in seconds: open the case, pick the monitor, start charting. No installer, no pairing code.
- ✓ Runs entirely in Chrome on the operatory computer -- nothing to deploy or keep updated.
- ✓ Decoded Mindray DIAP protocol over standard USB. No proprietary middleman, no vendor lock-in.
- ✓ Prefer to chart by hand? Manual vitals entry is always available as a fallback.
- 1 Plug the Mindray into the computer with its USB cable.
- 2 Open the case in Chrome and click Connect monitor.
- 3 Pick the device in the browser prompt -- vitals stream onto the strip chart.
Mindray → USB → Chrome → SedationLog. No software install on the operatory computer.
